The BestVan Halen
Well, even though I only saw a handful of shows this year, this one was the hands down winner. Not even the completely unnecessary nepotistic decision to have Eddie's 14-year old son play bass could stop this band from rocking the house. And speaking of EVH, he was fantastic, but the acrobatic antics (both physcial and vocally) of David Lee Roth haven't aged a bit. I can almost understand how Van Halen kicked him out of the band all those years ago - being one of the best guitarists ever and still getting upstaged each night has gotta be frustrating.
Runner UpPhantom of the Opera
I saw "Rent" last year and "Les Mes" about a decade ago, so I thought I knew what to expect when I went to see this longest show ever on broadway: over-the-top dancing; boring, rectiative songs; and too many british "thespian" accents. Luckily, "Phantom" was quite different in all respects. Hell, it's about a deformed criminal, obsessed with the arts so much he kills people!

The WorstA Story of Three Women
Well, I only saw a pathetic six shows this year so, even though I don't think it was bad for what it was, my roommate, Dorian's play was the least best performance I saw all year. It was all in Japanese sung by a lot of less-than-stellar actors. As the main lead Dorian was heads and tails above the rest of the cast, and I enjoyed seeing him in his opera element. However, this would be the last of my six shows seen I'd want to see again.
Runner UpEM60
The Perroys, twin roommates of mine, have a band called EM60 and had their first Jersey show just down the street from our house. The music was good, but they were still going through a singer-finding period and enlisted a comedian friend of theres to handle the vocal chores. Not the greatest idea in musical history.
