Heading home after one of his gigs, Jerry and Elaine learn there are two seats on the next flight: one in first class, the other in coach. Naturally, Jerry puts dibs on first class, enjoying comfy slippers, Tuscan writes and Tia, a gazelle of a model. Meanwhile, Elaine's wedged next to a jerk and browbeaten by flight attendants. On the ground, George and Kramer experience myriad mishaps trying to pick Jerry and Elaine up, including George's tangling with a felon and Kramer's sneaking onto a plane to collect a debt from an old roommate. In the end, George is taken for a ride.

The two-class plane society is a sublimely satisfying target, and the humor soars right off the map.

Well, Larry Charles is at it again, placing the fearsome foursome's quirky personalities in an exotic locale (and by this, I mean anywhere outside of Jerry's apartment and Monk's Diner). Unlike his hour long Los Angeles fiasco to begin this season - [4.01] The Trip (1) and [4.02] The Trip (2) - the Airport is way more consistant. People-hater, Elaine, begins to get into her violent ways after a few mishaps while even-steven, Jerry, experiences luxury after luxury. Perennial loser, George, begins the episode coming through on an airport pick up - only to get beat up, pay for an unwanted plane ticket, and get sent to parts unknown. Kramer has his usual wild ride (this time, literally). Tell you what - this is just like any other Seinfeld. The different settings prove they mean little to the success or failure of the episodes: this one wins just because it's funny.

George has to pick up jerry and Elaine because he lost a bet. The bet was he had to touch an awning outside and couldn't. of course this all happened offscreen and is being told by the characters, and yet it gets a big laugh. Why? This isn’t a "joke" you'd hear on a sitcom. It's funny stuff that could happen in real life, and these characters have become almost "real" to us. A great larry charles episode where the dark themes (some super-criminal who's been caught assaults george) doesn't outweigh the funny. Best in show: Kramer – his duet with george on duty-free, running next to the plane and falling out of the baggage claim are all classics. One problem I have with this episode: there are only 2 seats left for Elaine and jerry – one in coach, one in first class, which is why they have to split up. If that's so, how does Elaine sneak into the first class cabin and find an empty seat?

Quotes
Elaine: Alright, fine. I don't care. If the plane crashes everybody in first class is going to die anyway.
Jerry: Yeah, I'm sure you'll live.
